Oklahoma City Drug and Alcohol Counselor Charged with Medicaid Fraud

OKLAHOMA CITY — Attorney General Scott Pruitt’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit has filed charges in Oklahoma County District against the owner of an Oklahoma City counseling center.

Dora Ologweraro Uwudia, 44, of Midwest City, was charged with three counts of Medicaid fraud. According to the charges, Uwudia allegedly billed in excess of $4,000 in fraudulent claims to the Oklahoma Health Care Authority (OHCA).

In response to a complaint filed with the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, investigators conducted interviews with parents of Uwudia’s clients. The parents identified sessions that were billed to OHCA, but never occurred. In addition, some parents confirmed their children never received any counseling from Uwudia, but OHCA was billed for the services.

Uwudia is a licensed alcohol and drug counselor and a licensed professional counselor. She also is the owner of Minding Minds PC in Oklahoma City.

The AG’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit is the only Oklahoma law enforcement agency dedicated to the investigation and prosecution of Medicaid fraud. The Unit helps raise awareness as well as investigates and prosecutes provider fraud and abuse of residents in Medicaid-funded nursing homes.
