AG Pruitt Names AAG Geoffrey Long as Public Policy Director

OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General Scott Pruitt Friday named Assistant Attorney General Geoffrey Long as the new Public Policy Director. He replaces Melissa McLawhorn Houston who now serves as General Pruitt’s Chief of Staff.

“Geoff is a dedicated and tireless attorney who has quickly become a major asset to our office,” Pruitt said. “His commitment and knowledge will serve him well in his new role.”

Long, 30, will provide assistance and guidance on public policy issues. He also will assist in crafting Attorney General Opinions and policy projects.

Long earned a bachelor’s degree at the University of Oklahoma in 2005. He earned his Juris Doctor at the OU College of Law in 2008.

Since 2011, Long has been an assistant attorney general in the AG’s General Counsel Section, helping provide legal counsel to a wide range of agencies, including the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the State Fire Marshal, and the LP Gas Administration.

Prior to joining the AG’s Office, Long was assistant general counsel for the Land Office and previously held the same position with the Oklahoma Tax Commission.

In his spare time, Long is an avid cyclist, who has completed several lengthy rides to raise money for various charities. He also volunteers with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and proudly holds the honor of Eagle Scout, which is the highest honor awarded by the Boys Scouts of America.

Long and his wife, Tara, reside in Oklahoma City.
