OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General Mike Hunter and OSU Center for Health Sciences Dr. Jason Beaman today praised the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for removing federal barriers that hindered health care professionals treating opioid addiction.
The new guidelines expand access to medication-assisted treatment by exempting physicians from certain certification requirements needed to prescribe buprenorphine for opioid addiction treatment.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General Mike Hunter has filed first-degree murder and drug distribution charges on an alleged drug dealer and is continuing an investigation into the supply chain.
According to court documents, Jerry Leflore, 32, is accused of selling fake Oxycodone pills that contained Fentanyl to two individuals, one who died shortly after leaving his apartment.
A medical examiner determined the 30-year-old female died as a result of mixed drug toxicity with Fentanyl being a contributing factor.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General Mike Hunter has sent a letter to federal regulators asking for an update in its fight against opioid abuse, after Congress granted the agency expanded authorities in 2018.
The letter asks the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to provide a progress report by next month on what actions the agency has taken to combat the opioid epidemic and what actions are proposed for the future. The letter was signed by a bipartisan coalition of 48 attorneys general.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General Mike Hunter today released the following statement on the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to deny hearing the Texas lawsuit.
“I remain committed to election security and will continue to work to ensure other states uphold their responsibility to conduct free, fair and constitutional elections. I'm hopeful that the United States Supreme Court will take the opportunity in pending cases to reestablish that principle.”

OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General Mike Hunter today signed on to a brief in support of the Texas attorney general’s lawsuit against the states of Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan and Wisconsin, challenging the 2020 election results in those states.
In his lawsuit, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton claims these states are in violation of the Electors Clause and the Fourteenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and asks the U.S. Supreme Court to require the states to hold a special election or select a new set of electors for their electoral college votes.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General Mike Hunter has sent a letter to congressional leadership, urging members to extend the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economy (CARES) Act funding until the end of 2021.
The current deadline for officials to spend the money is Dec. 30. Any money not spent will go back to the federal government.
Attorney General Hunter said extending the deadline will ensure the funds are allocated properly.
