NORMAN – Attorney General Mike Hunter today released the following statement after Cleveland County District Judge Thad Balkman denied both the Johnson & Johnson and Teva Pharmaceuticals’ respective motions for summary judgment.
Defendants sought summary judgment to have the case thrown out, arguing the state’s public nuisance law didn’t apply to the state’s claim and that the state had no evidence that the defendants caused the opioid epidemic ravaging Oklahoma.
TULSA – Attorney General Mike Hunter today filed first-degree murder charges on a Tulsa man after an investigation by the Tulsa Police Department.
Brandon Fryhover, 31, allegedly supplied Taylor Kinyon, 26, with a lethal amount of methamphetamine that resulted in his death moments after he injected it. The medical examiner ruled Kinyon’s death was the result of methamphetamine toxicity.
Attorney General Hunter said his office is committed to holding drug suppliers accountable.
OKLAHOMA CITY - Attorney General Mike Hunter today released the following statement, praising President Donald Trump after granting a full pardon for former U.S. Army 1st Lt. Michael Behenna.
The president’s pardon comes weeks after the attorney general renewed his 2018 call for Behenna’s pardon by sending letters to President Trump and Attorney General William Barr, where Attorney General Hunter argued the U.S. Department of Justice regulations interfered with the president’s pardon powers.
Calls charge high connection, international fees
TULSA – Attorney General Mike Hunter today issued a consumer alert after a rash of scam phone calls from Sierra Leone have bludgeoned Oklahomans with Tulsa area codes.
Local authorities believe the calls are part of a scam known as a wangiri scam, or one ring phone scam, where an individual’s phone will only ring once in an attempt to get the individual to call the number back, resulting in charges for high international rates or connection fees.

Fifty-seven percent of Americans believe pharmaceutical companies should be held responsible for making the opioid crisis worse, according to a new poll by NPR and Ipsos.
The poll also found a third of Americans have been touched directly by the opioid epidemic.
