OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General Scott Pruitt Thursday named Aaron Cooper as the new Director of Public Affairs.
“Aaron is an experienced and dedicated professional with a strong commitment to serving the State of Oklahoma,” Pruitt said. “His knowledge and background in communications and public policy will be an asset to our office and serve him well in his new role.”
Cooper, 36, will provide assistance and guidance on communications, community relations and public affairs issues.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism at the University of Oklahoma in 2000.
Since January 2011, Cooper has served as press secretary for Gov. Mary Fallin, managing media relations for the governor’s office. Prior to joining the governor’s staff, Cooper served as press secretary for U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn. He also served in key communications roles on the 2004 Coburn senatorial campaign and the 2010 Fallin gubernatorial campaign.
Cooper previously owned an Oklahoma City public relations and communications firm and also worked as a reporter at The Associated Press.
He and his wife, Elizabeth, reside in Oklahoma City.
