 William Stephens ordered to pay more than $100,000 to victims

NORMAN – Attorney General Mike Hunter today announced William Stephens, the owner of Tornado King, a storm shelter manufacturing and installation company, pleaded no contest to six counts of embezzlement and one count of a pattern of criminal offenses.

As part of the plea, Stephens will pay $101,403.23 in restitution to victims and serve a five year deferred sentence.

AG Hunter requests meeting to discuss federal, state effort

OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General Mike Hunter today sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions requesting the federal government pursue opioid manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO).

The letter comes one day after Attorney General Sessions was in Oklahoma to discuss criminal justice issues across the United States.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General Mike Hunter has signed a letter with a coalition of 37 attorneys general urging credit reporting agencies Experian and TransUnion to stop charging fees to consumers looking to freeze their credit after the Equifax data breach.

The letter asks the companies to stop charging fees because consumers must pay the agency to both activate and lift the freeze, a process the attorneys general believe should not be necessary.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General Mike Hunter has signed a bipartisan letter with 38 other attorneys general and the National Association of Attorneys General, calling on Congress to pass the Road to Recovery Act.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General Mike Hunter today announced he has reappointed Cathy Stocker to the Oklahoma Ethics Commission.

Stocker will serve a five-year term and represent the 3rd Congressional District. She is beginning her second and final consecutive term. State law prohibits anyone from serving more than two terms in succession.  

Attorney General Hunter said Stocker has the background, knowledge and character to continue serving the commission with high distinction.
