OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter announced today an Oklahoma City contractor, who was charged with embezzlement in 2016 for failing to install safe rooms, pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay restitution to his victims.

Taylor Wheeler, who owned Republic Roofing and Remodeling, was given a three-year deferred sentence and was ordered to pay $37,564 in restitution.

Agents with the Consumer Protection Unit in Elk City today

OKLAHOMA CITY – Agents with Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter’s Consumer Protection Unit are in Elk City today to visit with home and business owners who were impacted by severe weather this week. 

Attorney General Hunter said severe weather events bring out fraudulent activity and caution Oklahomans to be aware of potential fraud.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter has signed a letter with 50 other attorneys general from across the United States and Puerto Rico, asking for federal legislation to allow money from prescription drug settlements to return to the states.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter released the following statement on the passage of Senate Concurrent Resolution 12, creating the Oklahoma Commission on Opioid Abuse.

The resolution passed unanimously in the House and by a 38 - 2 margin in the Senate.

“I appreciate the members in both chambers working to pass this important measure, especially Sen. AJ Griffin and Rep. Tim Downing, who authored the resolution and worked tirelessly to see it through.

Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter said while he will continue to monitor Environmental Protection Agency-related litigation, he also is interested is directing activities toward illegal drugs and getting a handle on what he terms abuses of Oklahoma’s Open Records Act.

Recommendations would address residential abuse cases

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter signed a letter from the National Association of Attorneys General with 36 other states and the District of Columbia urging a change in federal policy to expand the ability of the Medicaid Fraud Control Units (MFCU) to investigate and prosecute Medicaid fraud, neglect and abuse cases, including those happening outside of state-operated facilities.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter has charged Gerald Prindle, of Midwest City, with six felonies after an undercover investigation revealed he was in possession of and distributing child pornography.  

Prindle, 39, is charged with four counts of distributing child pornography, one count of possessing child pornography and one count of violating the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act, all felonies.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter today filed eight felony charges and one misdemeanor charge against Ryan and Richard Tate for alleged fraudulent business practices the two conducted while operating their businesses, Tate Publishing and Tate Music Group.

The charges include four felony counts of embezzlement, one felony count of attempted extortion by threat, two felony counts of extortion by threat, one felony count of racketeering and one misdemeanor count of embezzlement.
