OKLAHOMA CITY (Sept. 21, 2023) – Attorney General Gentner Drummond made the following statement today after the execution of Anthony Sanchez, who was convicted and sentenced to death for the 1996 rape and murder of 21-year-old Juli Busken in Norman. The Attorney General attended the execution at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester.

“Justice was served today for Juli Busken nearly 27 years after her life tragically was taken. My hope is that today can bring some measure of peace to her family and friends.”

OKLAHOMA CITY (Sept. 20, 2023) – Attorney General Gentner Drummond has created an Organized Crime Task Force to combat the scourge of illegal marijuana grow operations across Oklahoma and added a resource for citizens to report suspicious activity related to unlicensed operations.

OKLAHOMA CITY (Sept. 13, 2023) – Attorney General Gentner Drummond announced today he is exploring legal action against companies responsible for dangerous contaminants in Oklahoma water supplies. 

The Office of the Attorney General is soliciting requests for proposals from private law firms for potential litigation over water and land contamination by per- and polyfluoroalkyl substance (PFAS) chemicals.

This threat to public safety has exacted a heavy toll, particularly in rural Oklahoma, and it must not be tolerated. The time to act is now.

OKLAHOMA CITY (Sept. 7, 2023) - As part of a bipartisan 54-state and territory coalition, Attorney General Gentner Drummond is urging Congress to study how artificial intelligence (AI) is being used to exploit children through child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and to protect children from those abuses.

OKLAHOMA CITY (Aug. 28, 2023) – Attorney General Gentner Drummond has announced that the Oklahoma Opioid Abatement Board plans to issue up to $23 million in opioid abatement grant awards. Under the Political Subdivisions Opioid Abatement Grants Act, eligible entities are limited to Oklahoma counties, incorporated municipalities, public school districts, technology school districts, and a public trust solely benefiting one of the aforementioned political subdivisions.

OKLAHOMA CITY (Aug. 21, 2023) – Attorney General Gentner Drummond and a bipartisan coalition of 40 state attorneys general are urging the U.S. Supreme Court to protect veterans' rights by ruling in favor of James Rudisill in Rudisill v. McDonough.

The Supreme Court is expected to take up the case toward the end of the year.

OKLAHOMA CITY (Aug. 18, 2023) – The Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office is partnering with the Oklahoma Press Association (OPA) to host seminars on Oklahoma’s Open Meeting and Open Records laws in five locations across the state beginning late next month.

The seminars will be presented by Thomas R. Schneider, deputy general counsel to Attorney General Gentner Drummond.
