Cleveland County Judge denies defendants’ motions to dismiss

NORMAN – Attorney General Mike Hunter today released the following statement regarding Cleveland County Judge Thad Balkman’s denial of opioid manufacturers’ motions to dismiss the state’s lawsuit against them for their role in creating the opioid epidemic.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General Mike Hunter is urging Oklahomans to use caution when making online purchases this holiday season to avoid scams and fraud.

According to Adobe Digital Insights, a company that publishes research on digital marketing to marketers and business leaders, reported online sales during the 2016 holiday season hit a record $91.7 billion in sales, up from $82.5 billion in 2015. Researchers anticipate even more online sales in 2017.

Joint task force assisted with Safe Oklahoma Grant money

TULSA – Attorney General Mike Hunter today commended the Tulsa Police Department and other state and federal law enforcement agencies after a successful four-week crime sweep across Tulsa, called Operation Blue Thunder.

In total, the citywide operation made 102 felony arrests, served 55 felony warrants, seized 48 illegally possessed firearms and recovered 17 stolen vehicles.

 William Stephens ordered to pay more than $100,000 to victims

NORMAN – Attorney General Mike Hunter today announced William Stephens, the owner of Tornado King, a storm shelter manufacturing and installation company, pleaded no contest to six counts of embezzlement and one count of a pattern of criminal offenses.

As part of the plea, Stephens will pay $101,403.23 in restitution to victims and serve a five year deferred sentence.

AG Hunter requests meeting to discuss federal, state effort

OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General Mike Hunter today sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions requesting the federal government pursue opioid manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO).

The letter comes one day after Attorney General Sessions was in Oklahoma to discuss criminal justice issues across the United States.
