Attorney General Drummond rebukes EPA's proposed new rule on power plants

OKLAHOMA CITY (Aug. 14) – Attorney General Drummond has joined a coalition of 21 states opposing the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) proposed new rule on existing coal-, natural gas- and oil-fired power plants.

The proposal attempts to regulate those plants under the Clean Air Act by imposing more stringent emissions standards. The would-be rule ignores last year’s rebuke from the U.S. Supreme Court in West Virginia v. EPA, which warned that the EPA should not use a narrow regulatory provision to force coal-fired power plants into retirement en masse.

Drummond announces results of RFP process for potential Uri litigation

OKLAHOMA CITY (Aug. 8, 2023) – Attorney General Gentner Drummond announced today that Oklahoma City law firm Foshee & Yaffe has been selected to represent the State of Oklahoma in possible legal action related to potential market manipulation and illegal conduct that gouged consumers of billions of dollars during Winter Storm Uri. The firm was selected after Drummond ordered the first-of-its-kind Request for Proposal (RFP) process conducted by the Office of the Attorney General.

Registration open for domestic, sexual violence conference

OKLAHOMA CITY (Aug. 1, 2023) - The Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office is now accepting registrations for the 2023 Domestic and Sexual Violence and Stalking Partnership Conference, set for Sept. 13 and 14 in Norman.

The statewide conference will provide innovative training on domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and human trafficking for state and tribal officials, law enforcement officers, advocates, prosecutors, judges and allied professionals.

OKLAHOMA CITY (July 24, 2023) – Attorney General Gentner Drummond is leading a coalition of nine attorneys general urging the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to reverse course on its proposed rule to impose a special assessment on banking organizations. The would-be rule is an effort to recover the costs of bailing out elite depositors like venture capitalists and foreign nationals at Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) and Signature Bank.

Drummond issues statement on Jemaine Cannon execution

OKLAHOMA CITY (July 20, 2023) - Attorney General Gentner Drummond made the following statement today after the execution of Jemaine Cannon. The inmate was convicted and sentenced to death for the 1995 killing of Sharonda Clark.

“Justice was finally served this morning for Sharonda Clark with the execution of her murderer. My hope is that today’s action can bring some measure of peace for Sharonda’s two daughters, as well as her other family members and friends who loved her.”

Drummond announces potential legal action over alleged market manipulation during Winter Storm Uri

OKLAHOMA CITY (July 18, 2023) – Attorney General Gentner Drummond announced today that he may take legal action against various entities he believes to be responsible for market manipulation and other potentially unlawful conduct related to Winter Storm Uri. Drummond said a review he ordered has found that many companies used the devastating 2021 storm to rake in billions of dollars in ill-gotten gains.
