OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General Mike Hunter today announced he has appointed long-time Oklahoma City businessman Marshall Snipes to serve on the board of directors for the Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET).
Snipes, of Oklahoma City, brings over 40 years of experience in business, including senior level experience in accounting, financial services, insurance and the health care industry.
Attorney General Hunter said Snipes’ leadership qualities and vision as businessman and health care advocate make him a great fit for the position.
“Marshall’s background and expertise in a variety of capacities gives him an unmatched skillset to serve in this capacity,” Attorney General Hunter said. “He has a passion for preventative care and has spent many years at companies and on boards aimed at improving the health and quality of life for Oklahomans. I am confident he will work with distinction to uphold the agency’s mission while ensuring settlement payments are used to improve the health of citizens across the state.”
Currently, Snipes serves as the CEO of AmeriClaim, a nationwide independent insurance services firm, as a managing director of Triton Value Partners, a private equity firm that specializes in health care and insurance.
He has served in multiple roles for Integris Health System, where he is a current member of the board of directors and chairman of the finance committee. Snipes is the past chairman of the board, former chairman of the audit committee and former member of the governance, quality, investment and compensation committees for the health system.
He also serves as the Chair of the New Horizons Health Care Council, a healthcare think tank focused on public policy in the health care industry and was recently appointed to serve on the regional policy board for the American Hospital Association.
In November, he was appointed to Governor-elect Kevin Stitt’s transition team as the chairman of the healthcare policy group.

His seven-year term is effective immediately. Snipes is replacing Jim Gebhart.
Snipes received both his bachelors and masters degrees in accounting from Oklahoma State University. He is a member of the Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants.

TSET was created through a constitutional amendment approved by Oklahoma voters in 2000 to ensure settlement payments from a 1998 multi-state lawsuit against the tobacco industry are used to improve the health of Oklahomans. The funds are part of an endowment, to guarantee a growing funding source for decades to come.
About the Board
The seven-member Board of Directors supervises the earnings from the Trust to fund programs that improve the health and well-being of all Oklahomans. Initial appointed members serve staggered terms of office and subsequent appointed members serve seven-year terms. By design, the board is bipartisan and representative of each of the state’s five congressional districts. All appointees must have demonstrated expertise in public or private healthcare or programs that benefit children or senior adults.
