OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General Mike Hunter released the following statement on the passing of United States Senator John McCain.
“Senator John McCain is the embodiment of a true American hero.
“His service to his nation knew no bounds. Whether it was during his distinguished military career, where his admirable service led to his capture and horrific torture as a prisoner of war. Or during his time in the U.S. Senate, where he was an extraordinary leader, who was a champion for all Americans.
“I was fortunate enough to have met Sen. McCain and build a relationship on a personal level. Some of my most treasured memories of our time together will be of him talking about his life and what is really important.
“He is a man of moral principle, who will be truly missed but never forgotten.
“My wife Cheryl and I send our deepest sympathies to the McCain family during this difficult time.
“Rest easy, my friend.”
