Attorney General Hunter Statement on the Annual Observance of the Oklahoma City Bombing

OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General Mike Hunter today released the following statement regarding the annual observance of the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building on April 19, 1995.

“On today’s solemn annual observance of the Oklahoma City bombing, we remember the 168 innocent victims we lost 23 years ago. We also continue to pay our deepest sympathies and pledge our support and guidance to the loved ones of victims and survivors, who still struggle with the trauma of the bombing and its aftermath.

“We must also honor the first responders for their bravery for rushing toward the scene minutes after the blast, the thousands of volunteers and agencies for working countless hours to provide vital supplies and resources to workers and victims and all of the other unsung heroes, who helped rebuild in the aftermath.

“The strength and resolve shown by Oklahomans in the wake of this tragedy still shines as a beacon of hope to the world and the defining example of what has become known as the Oklahoma Standard.”
