MUSKOGEE – Agents with Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter’s office arrested William Stephens, the owner of Tornado King Shelters, yesterday in Muskogee.
Stephens is currently in the Muskogee County Jail awaiting transfer to Cleveland County, where the charges against him were filed on Monday.
Attorney General Mike Hunter commended the quick action of the agents, who wasted no time tracking Stephens down.
“I appreciate the agents for working around the clock to track Stephens down," Attorney General Hunter said. "The team at the Consumer Protection Unit has done a terrific job since the onset of this investigation."
On Monday, Attorney General Hunter’s office filed seven felony counts on Stephens, whose company received full or partial payments for work never completed.
A Cleveland County judge set his bail at $50,000.
If convicted, Stephens faces up to five years in prison and $5,000 per count in fines and restitution.
