OKLAHOMA CITY (Feb. 16, 2023) - Attorney General Gentner Drummond announced today that his office will take on the responsibility of prosecuting a Canadian County attorney indicted by a multi-county grand jury late last year for illegal marijuana business practices.

Matt Stacy was charged with 13 felony counts in Garvin County District Court last October after an affidavit alleged he “aided, encouraged, facilitated and/or contributed to a black-market for unlawful marijuana cultivation, trafficking and/or manufacturing.”

OKLAHOMA CITY (Feb. 9, 2023) – Attorney General Gentner Drummond said today that while there are significant statutory deficiencies with recent appointments to the Oklahoma Veterans Commission, he is confident that state legislators will resolve the matter this legislative session by stripping the Governor of his autonomy over the panel.

At issue are efforts by Gov. Stitt to remove and replace three commission members.

State law requires that the commission consist of nine members, including a representative from six specified veterans’ groups.

OKLAHOMA CITY (Feb. 8, 2023) – Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond has joined a coalition of 21 states, led by Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares, urgently calling on President Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken to designate Mexican drug cartels as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs) under federal law.

OKLAHOMA CITY (Feb. 3, 2023) – Attorney General Gentner Drummond announced today his intent to file a lawsuit against the Biden administration if it does not withdraw a rule by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFW) that designates the lesser prairie chicken as a threatened species.

The rule, which is scheduled to take effect March 27, would place burdensome restrictions on Oklahoma ranchers needing to graze livestock, as well as unnecessarily impede development of energy pipelines, oil drilling, wind farms, and roads.

OKLAHOMA CITY (Jan. 30, 2023) – Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond is suing the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to remove an illegal regulation from federal law that allows the World Health Organization (WHO) to exert its authority over the United States.

Filed last week in U.S. District Court in the Northern District of Texas, the lawsuit notes that the HHS’s definition of public health emergency exceeds the agency’s scope by unlawfully giving the WHO the authority to invoke emergency health powers in this nation.

OKLAHOMA CITY (Jan. 26, 2023) – Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond announced today that he has directed an independent counsel to conduct a comprehensive review of Richard Glossip’s murder conviction and death sentence. Glossip was sentenced to death for the 1997 murder of Barry Van Treese in Oklahoma City. 

Drummond said he has retained former prosecutor Rex Duncan to review all aspects of the investigation, trial, sentencing and appeals process.
