OKLAHOMA CITY - Attorney General John O’Connor released the following statement, “Barry Van Treese was murdered with a baseball bat in the middle of the night in a room of the hotel he owned. Richard Glossip managed that hotel and received an apartment in the hotel as part of his compensation. After meeting with Mr. Van Treese about mostly financial issues, Glossip had reason to fear that he would be fired the next day.

OKLAHOMA CITY - Attorney General John O’Connor today announced the recipients of the 2023 Safe Oklahoma Grant, which distributed $2 million among 58 statewide law enforcement agencies.

General O’Connor was joined by Oklahoma City Police Chief Wade Gourley, Tulsa Police Chief Wendell Franklin, Norman Police Chief Kevin Foster, and Pauls Valley Police Chief Mitch McGill. The four agencies combined received $871,601.00 through the 2023 grant and spoke about how their agencies would use the money.

OKLAHOMA CITY - Oklahoma Attorney General John O’Connor is partnering with the Oklahoma Press Association to host open records and open meetings seminars in five locations across the state beginning Sept. 26.

“These seminars are a great way for public officials to stay up to date on the state’s open record laws,” Attorney General O’Connor said. “I encourage everyone who serves the public to attend and participate in these meetings.”

The seminars are free, open to the public, and require no pre-registration.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General John O’Connor filed a third round of charges in Oklahoma County against a contractor who allegedly received thousands of dollars from Oklahomans in several counties in exchange for construction projects he never completed.

Michael Hanson, 42, is now charged with twenty-four (24) counts of felony Embezzlement, one count of misdemeanor Embezzlement, and one count of Racketeering.

The 18-state bipartisan coalition, led by Florida Republican Attorney General Ashley Moody and Connecticut Democrat Attorney General William Tong, demands the president take decisive action in response to the record increase in overdose deaths related to the lethal substance nationwide.
