I will continue to hold President Biden accountable and do everything I can to uphold the rule of law.”

OKLAHOMA CITY - Attorney General John O’Connor joined a coalition of 19 states filing an amicus brief at the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) in Texas v. United States.
The coalition opposes the federal immigration policy, which halts nearly all arrests and deportations, even for immigrants convicted of crimes, and drastically ties the hands of immigration officers.

OKLAHOMA CITY - On June 30, 2022, the U.S. Supreme Court (SCOTUS) issued its final opinions for the 2021-22 term, a year in which the State of Oklahoma enjoyed overwhelming success protecting Oklahomans and their constitutional rights.
The U.S. Supreme Court issued 66 formal opinions this term, according to SCOTUSblog. The Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office participated in 21 of these 66 cases—winning 15.

OKLAHOMA CITY - Attorney General John O’Connor filed charges in Grady County against a contractor accused of defrauding Oklahomans of thousands of dollars for home repair work he never completed.
Norman “Buddy” Gomes, 40, who owned BNV Construction, is accused of requesting money up front from victims for home repair projects he never started. Investigators say Gomes would give various excuses as to why work had not begun, eventually stopped all communication with the victims, and refused to return their money.

OKLAHOMA CITY - Attorney General John O'Connor released the following statement, "Today, the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals set execution dates in six cases involving the murders of eight individuals: Albert Hale, Barry Van Treese, Brianna Cole, Adam Broomhall, Mary Bowles, Jerald Thurman, and A.J. and Patsy Cantrell.
"The earliest of these murders was committed in 1993, and the most recent was in 2003.

OKLAHOMA CITY - For the second time in two days, the U.S. Supreme Court has issued a significant ruling in favor of Oklahoma. Yesterday, in a landmark case, the Court held in Oklahoma v. Castro-Huerta that our State retained jurisdiction in eastern Oklahoma to prosecute non-Indians and protect victims of crime.

OKLAHOMA CITY - In a victory for the State of Oklahoma, the U.S. Supreme Court today recognized the authority of the State of Oklahoma to prosecute non-Indian criminals who injure or take the lives or property of Indians in eastern Oklahoma. For the first time since the McGirt decision, Oklahoma can prosecute non-Indian criminals anywhere within the State’s borders, whether or not the victim is Indian.
“All Oklahomans, Indian and non-Indian alike, will now receive equal protection against being victimized by non-Indian criminals,” said Oklahoma Attorney General John O’Connor.
